Ferndown Boarding Cattery - Planning 2.
Draft Layout.
So, this is what we're aiming for. Two seperate blocks of chalets facing each other. All built to FAB standards with added requirements of East Dorset District Council. The intention was to be open in time for August Bank Holiday but sadly this never happened. The building work seemed to go on forever and the finishing touches seemed to be endless.

Ferndown Boarding Cattery - Planning 1.
The Planning Application.

7. 3/08/0488/FUL
Erection of 22 Unit Boarding Cattery to Rear of Property, Access Improvements and Parking to Frontage as amended by plans received 14/05/08 and 23/05/08. 474 Ringwood Road, Ferndown, Dorset.
Public Speaking:
Mrs Lewis joint applicant informed the Committee that she had been operating a Cattery in Dorset for 13 years and had not received any complaints. Mrs Lewis informed the Committee that she had undertaken a lot of research in order to find the right site for a Cattery business and felt it would fit in seamlessly at this location. She advised that all waste would be removed weekly by a commercial removal company and there would only be a maximum of three customers visiting per day, with ample car parking space. Mrs Lewis informed the Committee that the Cattery would sit well in this residential area and there would be no noise pollution as the site was well screened.
GRANTED AS PER THE OFFICER RECOMMENDATION - Hooray!

The Garden Again.
Well, this is a view of the garden about midway looking towards the house. What may not be apparent is that the land slopes from left to right across the lawn. So, near the bushes on the right the ground is quite soggy and interesting when it rains. It will require some land drains to be laid during the ground works part of the construction. In addition the ground level will be raised about 30cm on the right hand side to level the site and improve the drainage. Should be fun!

The Garden.
So this is where the cattery will be. This is looking from the back of the house towards a wooden summer house at the bottom of the garden. It's a nice summers day so everything looks green and jolly. Half way down the garden is a privet hedge which disguises a green house and in the far right hand corner is a huge work shop - i guess for doing huge work - who knows?

The property.
This is the house we chose after several months of searching. Purchased through Hearnes Estate Agents in Ferndown.
We completed the purchase in May 2008.
Why did we choose this property? Well, it had everything the business required: loads of off road parking, enough land to site the cattery comfortably, good residential accommodation and situated in a central location with great road connections and easy access to local facilities.
